Please meet Dominic Murphy, the latest addition to the Key Consulting team. Dominic joins us as the Director for the APAC region, based in Singapore, where he’s excited to help Key Consulting bring our expertise to a broader audience across Asia. With a background in HR and Executive Search, Dominic is a people and culture expert dedicated to connecting organisations with talent that drives their success. 

We sat down with Dom to discuss his background, his passion for HR, and his vision for Key Consulting in the APAC region. 

Q: Tell us about your background and what led you to this new role at Key Consulting.

A: I started my career in HR in the UK, working across multiple industries, including Finance, Oil & Gas, and Healthcare. Since then, I’ve had great achievements in HR transformation, M&A, and talent management. In 2018, I moved to Japan and experienced Executive Search for the first time, which allowed me to bring my HR expertise into a different space. I recently worked as an HRBP for North Asia with a British multinational, which prepared me well for this role at Key. I was excited to join the team in Singapore and continue the great work they’re doing in Asia.

Q: What initially drew you to specialise in Executive Search within the HR space?

A: With an MSc in HR Management and my experience in HR, I have a unique perspective on the roles companies need and the capabilities that align with organisational success. This has helped me to be a trusted partner in recruitment for both clients and candidates, especially when it comes to understanding strategic HR needs. 

 

Q: Can you tell us more about your vision for Key Consulting in APAC?

A: My plan is to build on the great work already done by our team in Japan, delivering the same level of service and commitment to clients across APAC. We’ll stay true to Key Consulting’s core expertise areas while expanding our regional presence as Asia specialists. 

 

Q: What are the biggest opportunities you see in the APAC market, and how will Key Consulting support them?

A: The APAC region holds significant growth potential with the booming economies of China, India and Vietnam.  As companies continue to expand here, we’ll work closely with our clients to understand their needs in Singapore and South East Asia, and connect them with the right people to drive their success. Our approach is to be true partners, helping organisations remain competitive in a challenging talent landscape. 

 

Q: With your experience, what core strengths are you bringing to Key Consulting?

A: I hope my HR background and deep understanding of the APAC market will add value to the team. I’m also experienced in managing dynamic environments, which will be key as we establish a new presence here in Singapore. 

 

Q: What are you most excited about as you take on this new challenge?

A: I’m thrilled to reconnect with my network in the HR field and meet the immense talent here in Singapore. Singapore is a central talent hub, so it’s the perfect place for us to build Key Consulting’s APAC brand. 

 

Q: Looking forward, what are your long-term ambitions at Key Consulting, and how do you see yourself contributing to the company’s mission?  

A: My long-term ambitions are to maintain both Regional and Global Senior relationships to enble growth of Japan the APAC Teams.  

As I share the same values and culture as the existing team, I see myself helping to shape strategy and bring in the right people to help Key Consulting on our mission to be the leading Partner for Talent Solutions across Asia where all talent challenges are uniquely different country to country.
